Garlic Chives/chinese Chives

Garlic chives known as Chinese Chives have a mild garlic rather than onion flavour. Allium tuberosum is a clumping perennial that?s a charmer in pots although it sulks if it gets too dry and can be a target for aphids if it gets stressed. Garlic chives have white flowers unlike the pink pom-poms of common chives. Common chives have slender grass-like leaves but broad-leaf chives as their name suggests are much thicker (sure saves time snipping). Chop chives into herb butters fritters omelettes and potato salad. Eat the flowers too ? try dipping them in beer batter and frying quickly holding the stem. - See more at: http://nzgardener.co.nz/garlic-chives/#sthash.x6uA2pB9.dpuf
